The Great Pumpkin Patch

We've had a lot of fun watching our garden grow this year. A few weeks ago we noticed that the pumpkins were doing really well (considering last year we got about 5 pumpkins the size of cantaloupes). We've all been really excited to watch them turn orange and see how big they were getting.

In fact we were amazed at how many there were and how big they were. I tried to take a picture of the patch the other day, but it didn't really do it justice.

But last night, we picked all the pumpkins and put them in a big pile.

HOLY COW!!! Can you believe all those pumpkins!! Thomas' face looks quite thoughful in all of these pictures...truly, he's thinking of how much money he's going to make because we told them they could set up a stand in our front yard to sell pumpkins!! They're so excited :) (of course they get to have first pick!!)

So if you need any pumpkins, come up our way...the rates are cheap and the salesmen are cute!!

One of those days...

So this morning I decided it was time to take some of these beauties

and turn them into something lovely that I could store in jars for another day.

V-8 juice was on the menu today...not to hard, but VERY messy and it seemed to take me all day (kept getting interrupted by a cute baby :) it was also one of the MESSIEST things I have canned this year!! It feels like I have tomato juice EVERYWHERE in my kitchen!!

Well, I finally got around to processing the jars (had a Dr. appt. and after school stuff that interrupted things)

Just as the pots were starting to boil I heard a pop. I wasn't in the room so I thought it was just the lid banging as the water started boiling...so I lifted the lid to see red juice bubbling up in my water

CRAP!!!! A jar broke. That is the first time this has happened to me while canning...WHAT A MESS!!! (had to empty it all out and start cooking it again)

It's just so been one of those days and this just sealed the deal!!

Here's to a better tomorrow **Cheers** (I'll be wiping tomato off of every surface in my kitchen and out of about 35 pots, bowls, and pans...how about you!!)

Today...

Today I could be mad that while I was away my husband didn't do all the jobs I asked him to do...I could be mad that the house was messier when I came home than when I left....I could be mad that I didn't have all the money I wanted to spend today...but I'm not.

I'm just so glad that my husband took a day off of work so that I could run away to Swiss Days and Park City with my mom and sisters...I'm just so glad that my kids were so excited to see me when I came home...I'm just so glad that my husband loves me for being me and nothing else...no strings attached...the good and the bad.

Thanks Dave...I love you.

I also love that you and the boys brought home flowers for me after you got your haircuts (Thanks for the free flowers Paul the Barber!!)

But for the record...I had this blog all written in my mind before you walked through the door with the flowers. I loved you before that..but that was frosting on the cake!!
