That Darn Relief Society

When I was in the hospital last Sunday, there were two cute older priesthood bretheren who came to give us the sacrament, and two sweet Relief Society sisters who came to give a message. They wanted to make sure I had plenty of help at home and to gush over my cute baby :) as they left, the left me a card with a message on it. I looked at it again today and decided to share it here

"Never forget that these little ones are the sons and daughters of God and that yours is a custodial relationship to them, that He was a parent before you were parents, and that He has not relinquished His parental rights or interest in these little ones. Now, love them, take care of them...welcome them into your homes and nurture and love them with all of your hearts.

--President Gordon B. Hinckley"

Of course I was in tears reading this...those darn Relief Society sisters...who gives a thought like that to a woman who had a baby two days ago. Wait...I know...ones who know how important it is that we know and remember where these precious little ones come from....so...hug your kids extra tight tonight and remember that despite how crazy they make you, they are Heavenly Fathers children too...and we need to take care of them

(maybe I shouldn't have been yelling at my kids while I was typing this...guess I'd better go hug them!!)

Happy Birthday Robert :)

It is Robert's one week birthday today...we of course made a cake to celebrate! The boys had a fun time decorating it. (yes...Dave has been up every night with me...I don't know how I would have made it through this week without him!!)

We spent the night playing on the floor. The boys would move from side to side on the blanket and laugh when Robert would turn his head to them (he is VERY strong we've discovered...he can lift his head and change it from side to side!! (Thomas' cough is getting better...we just have him wear the mask when he's going to be right in the baby's face)

We had a very fun night.

Here are some pics from his first bath on Tuesday. He wasn't a big fan of it, but LOVED getting his hair washed (I included a foot picture for those obsessed with them :)

It's been a long, fun, week. I'm surprised at how much I've forgotten about taking care of a newborn...I've also forgotten how much in love you can be with a little person who has only been in your life for a week. I love you little Robert...thank you for coming to our family!!

I'm in LOVE!!

And who can blame me :)

Here is Robert William Garritson. (yes we FINALLY decided)

He came into the world on February 13th at 8 lbs 2 oz 21 inches long...and MAD at the people who took him from his comfortable home.

He's doing so well and we fall more and more in love with him each minute

His brothers love him too!! (Thomas will be glad when he stops coughing so that he can take off the mask...he's such a good brother to wear it!!)

Almost Ready...

Well...we're down' to about a day and a half until this baby is born. My nesting is almost done, I've cleaned carpets, scrubbed walls, packed bags, and even accomplished a feat I thought was impossible...I painted my toenails :)

All I have left is to fold some laundry, mop the kitchen floor, clean the bathroom and dust...and pretend to sleep.

The c-section is scheduled for 7:30 Friday morning...I'll have Dave post some pictures probably Saturday or Sunday. I probably won't be home until Monday or Tuesday. If you'd like a call...e-mail me (ngarrits@msn.com) and I'll add you to the list, or watch my sisters' blogs...they'll post something I'm sure :) (I'm wishing I had a laptop to use in the hospital...what on earth am I going to do w/ out the internet for 4 days!!)

A budding talent...

As I went to get my camera ready for taking pictures of the baby...I noticed that I have a budding photographer on my hands.

Here's a sampling of the pictures that Thomas has taken with my camera (without my knowledge)

This is only 11 of the oh, 40 or 50 I found. He's got a real talent don't you think. I also found some on my phone...guess I know what to get him for his birthday!!

All good stuff :)

About time for a new blog...dont' you think?! So here's an update on my kiddos..well...not so much an update...but some stories about them...

I had a very proud mommy moment with Thomas last week. We were in the grocery store and as we were leaving he spotted a coin on the ground. I had seen two ladies drop it but didn't think much about it. He apparently noticed them drop it too, and ran to catch them before they got out of the store.
Now we are talking one coin here... a quarter actually...but also...this is a boy who LOVES money (there is no loose change around my house...it all finds it's way to a piggy bank)
Anyway...he chases them down and tells them they dropped the money...they gush over him and tell him thank you and THEN...tell him he can KEEP the money!!! Well you would have thought he won the lottery.
We had a good talk on the way home about choosing the right and how good it makes you feel. I was so proud of him...all over a quarter :)
Now for Michael...
All last weekend he had a tooth that was loose (and had been for quite some time) but he was ready for it to come out...so he wiggled and wiggled it and pronounced it ready. Now anyone who knows me knows how I feel about wiggley teeth...YUCK!! they make my stomach turn!!
Sunday morning, he really wanted it out, it was bleeding...so I gathered all my bravery and tried to pull it to no avail. He tried to call grandma to do it but she didn't answer the phone...so I told him to wait until Daddy got up then we'd have him try. Well, daddy tried, really tried, and told Michael he'd just have to keep working on it...it wasn't ready.
Well...this of course didn't make Michael happy. He said "it is too ready dad" reached in his mouth and popped out the tooth...all by himself. Needless to say I laughed really hard...then we called grandma to tell her nevermind :)
Think he's proud of himself much ?!
Now for the youngest of our children (who still doesn't have a name...but will I promise)
He will be arriving by the 13th at the latest (yes, I know it's friday the 13th, and I DON'T care) Actually...that will be if he waits until the 13th...my dr. is starting to get worried about low fluid again. I had some extra tests yesterday and all is still fine, but if anything changes...that will move up the delivery date...which is fine by me :) I'm 38 weeks now...full term. We're ready for baby to be here...just have to pack the bags.
And here is a picture that I do NOT want to post but was told I have to.

No, I'm not having twins...yes,I am due soon...yes,I am uncomfortable, Thanks :)
(p.s. sorry everything is so squished together...I can't make the spacing work right this morning for some reason)
