my "Bountiful" harvest

Here are the results of my adventure this morning...

Inside there is: Swiss Chard, Broccoli, Asparagas, Cucumbers, Romaine Lettuce, 2 bags of baby carrots, 5lb bag russett potatoes, lemons, gala apples, naval oranges, bananas, strawberries...

If I would have bought all of this at the grocery store it would have been at least $35.00 if not more (and it didn't look anywhere near this nice in the store)

I paid only 16.50 for it (plus a one time $3.00 participation fee)

I heard about this food co-op called "Bountiful Baskets" and after finding out it wasn't only in Bountiful (yes, I'm admitting that I thought that) and hearing raving reviews about it...My sister and I trecked out in the early morning to collect our veggies that we had purchased.

Basically is a group of people who buy in bulk straight from the suppliers, then split up the order between everyone who opted in.

I was so happy with the quality and quantity of what we received...hopefully we'll be able to get one to come to Morgan soon.

You can read more about it here.

The Super Bowl!!!

The Preparation ...

**First we have the "lucky items"

Here's the "Lucky Duck" hat...the gold duck was found during a date night of shopping for anything black or gold for the game...don't know why the duck, but it was $1 so I let him have it...I died laughing when he attached it to the hat (didn't get a good picture from the front...couldn't block the game)

You can see the duck a little from the side here...and the unshaven face...apparently Dave went unshaven for each of the playoff games (guess I didn't notice) Well...he stopped shaving Friday...thought his boys could use the EXTRA luck! (he shaved Sunday night...all of a sudden the no shaving, no kissing rule mattered to him again)

Then there is the tie...he wore this every day (except Saturdays) from the time the Saints won their place in the Superbowl...(my condolences to his co-workers...some of the combinations he wore to work were totally horrible...good thing he leaves in the dark when I can't see him)...I will be happy to not see this tie for awhile!!

Here he is getting a few more ESPN interviews in before church...

And here he is all dressed up and ready to go to church...(I made him leave the hat home) I also told him he could not fast or pray that the Saints would win...he said he would just fast for the strength to be a good sport (it worked!) It's also a good thing church was at 9:00 am...I'm sure if he would have had to go any later it would have been a REAL challenge!

While he was gone to church (I stayed home to keep my baby safe from germs...) Sherry and I got other things prepared...

...Decorations (Dave and Michael made the poster)

And the FOOD...

This picture was actually from Saturday night...I bought this fleur-de-lis cookie cutter about 8 years ago and told Dave that when the Saints went to the superbowl I would make somthing with it...the time had finally come!!!

The Food....

the cookies (yes they're gold...thanks Wilton) there are black and gold mints...

...black and gold fudge (dark chocolate and toffee) in gold wrappers...

...Football Cheeseball (always a favorite)...

...black and gold M&Ms (let's not talk about how much these cost)...

And...WHAT IS THAT...well...

...When Dave came home from church he was sure it was guacamole...took a cracker and dipped in (I didn't notice) in a few minutes, he told me so sweetly that he thought there might be something wrong with the guacamole and maybe we shouldn't take it. Well...what was wrong with it was that it was BABY FOOD!!! Green Beans, applesauce, and oatmeal...YUMMY!! (think maybe the baby spoon in it should have tipped him off?) I laughed so hard I thought I was going to have an accident...seriously one of my favorite memories of the day!!

The Fans...
Opposing fans (we laughed so hard when Michael came out of our bathroom with his face painted...the mark on the side of his face is a "C" for colts...he was looking in the mirror :) He was sure to wear NO black or gold...he loves to cheer against anyone Dave is cheering for (except when it's BYU, JAZZ, or USA (olympics))

Cute fans :)

Wonder how many years their dad's will still be able to convince them to cheer for "their" teams...

Then there were the impartial fans...they just wanted to come for the show (and the food)

..They even brought their own impartial treats...black and white cookies...so cute!

The Game...
There were exciting moments...(good thing Robert doesn't have to wear that outfit anymore...I had a hard time keeping it snapped!! It got good use though...this is our third boy to wear it)

There were tense moments... (things got REALLY quiet sometimes)

...Then there was the moment Dave has been waiting for for I don't want to know how many years...

The Celebration...
(look at that silly grin) I was actually surprised at how calm his celebration was...he was a very gracious winner (but when the interception was made that secured the win for the Saints...he actually had a tear run down his cheek...this man LOVES his football!!)

...I think Dave would have liked some Gatorade dumped on him :)

...here's the trophy from Adam...It says "Bragging Rights" with a super bowl XLIV and Saints Helmet (I had also prepared a label with a Colts helmet and Dave would have had to give it to Adam)

Aww...What a happy family... Robert is happy he has something cool to pull apart...Dave is happy his Saints just won...and Natalie is happy that the football season is over so she can have her husband back for a few months (except while he is watching basketball, hockey, Olympics, baseball, etc, etc... **Sigh**)

Thanks for a great season everyone....here's to doing it again in another 40 years :) (just kidding sweetie)

(and yes, we have the issue of Sports Illustrated, the copy of the New orleans paper from the day after, and the Championship shirt)

The Mischief Continues...

Sunday after we re-painted the Birt's snow (once again) Adam brought Dave a beautifully wrapped present...it was full of these...

Apparently back in the day...when the Saints were horribly bad...fans used to wear paperbags on their head and called their team the "aints"
Funny, Funny (so was this)
Well..They Aint the Aint's no more baby!!!

Thomas doens't think so either...he fixed the bags and put a new back on one..."osm dad"=Awesome Dad! (sound it out...it works!) He's on his dad's side...

Michael on the other hand...is a fan of anyone who is against the Saints...in fact he was very upset that we were going to do this...

GOTCHA!! (oh and the Morgan Sheriff's department must be Saint's fans too since they drove right by me while I was doing this and they didn't stop me!)

The SAINTS are coming...the SAINTS are coming...
